the bigger they get, the more they cost

I can't believe how much teenagers cost, this past week we have been in the process of getting Parker and Bailey ready to go back to school. All I can say is yeah for kids that work and have their own money. This week we have been busy buying"important" things like......$75.00 jeans, a PLAIN white belt, $40.00 t-shirts, acrylic nails, eyebrows waxed, hot pink hair extensions, a new hair cut, 6 new pairs of flip-flops, the exact same pair of Vans in 2 different colors, new back-packs (use last years?...whatever!), a new hoodie from Hollister that looks like it is 5 years old, a pedicure, blinking lights, picture frames and cute magnets for the "coolest" locker in the school and don't forget cute underwear! This weekend we will make a trip for "not so important" things like.....paper, pencils, 3 ring binders, book covers, highlighters, index cards and pens. Remember the good old days when you got socks, underwear, a book bag, a couple of new outfits that all matched for interchanging to "create" more outfits and maybe a new pair of shoes. Don't forget the $150.00 to registration fee. So much for FREE EDUCATION! We DID have a great time together and our grocery money is gone but WOW, do they look good!

Ty Told Carrie that he never got a new "Back Pack" that he had to use the same "Trapper Keeper" from kindergarten to 12th grade...Whatever! I am sure I bought new TRAP Keeps every year...my kids never used "Back Packs"

School shopping is some of my girls fondest memories. They love the time we spend together. It's amazing how much things have changed over the years. I remember buying Garanimals at Grand Central...remember if the tags were the same animal then they matched?!! What a novel idea...were our mothers too stupid to figure out if things matched back then? Just wait for Baily's first dance...you get to do all those things again...shop for outragiously priced dress, pedicure, fake nails, hair do's...fun times. I would't trade the memories for the world and I hope my girls wouldn't either!

Ugh times two! I went to Walmart to get the not-so-fun and "mandatory" supplies...and for 2 kids I spent $150!!! That was just for pencils/notebook crap!!! My kids are shopping at DI from now on!!! (Yeah, right!)
