what was I thinking?

Sunday at church I had this conversation with my friend Michelle.

Michelle: We are doing this really fun activity for Relief Society called a "progressive social".

Me: That sounds fun! (not really but I really LOVE my friend)

Michelle: It will be fun once I find someone to host a house.

Me: What, you need a house? You can use mine.

Michelle: Oh' my gosh, you are so nice and your house will be perfect you always decorate so cute.

Me: What I have to DECORATE by December 10th, are you SERIOUS?

Michelle: Yeah, I am so HAPPY! This is so perfect, I love you friend you have saved me from using my house.

Me: Oh' did you say it was on December 10th? Bailey has her BIG Holiday singing performance that night. I won't be home, I'm sorry. (whew, that was CLOSE)

Michelle: What? (in her sad voice) It's ok if you can't be there, I will be you at your house. (in her I have a great idea voice)

Me: Ok, if you are me and I am me somewhere else...does that mean you will decorate my house and get it ready for the festivities? All 45-55+ totally christ-like NON-judgemental women that will be coming into my home to talk about things like:

Women: "oh' Carrie Whiting you know she has totally gone off the deep end and she has sworn off the Holidays all together". " I heard that she doesn't have a clue that in 29 days Christmas will be here, she thinks it's really October". "Those poor kids, they must feel like orphans, with their mom running around with a chicken like it's head cut off".

Michelle: I am so happy that we can do this at your house, I am SOOO blessed to have a friend like you and I owe you big time.

Me: It's my pleasure Michelle, you know I am happy to help you any way I can. Yes, you do OWE me BIG time and maybe I can find a bit of Christmas Cheer in the meantime.

I HOPE SO!!!

Just say NO! Quit trying to make everyone think you are made of steel Carrie Whiting!!! Keeping your sanity through the holidays is WAY more important than a Relief Society dinner! Give me her number...or tell her you have been thinking about it and you just don't feel comfortable with other people (not her) being in your house without you. She'll understand! p.s. when did you go off the deep end? :) I love you Carrie!

You should'nt have to have it at your house for the same flippin' reason she's not having it at HERS! No wonder you have a lot more friends than I! Good luck with this one! :)
